Seven to eight infants per 1000 live-born births present a Congenital Heart Defect. The incidence of heart murmurs, including innocent murmurs, can be as high as 80% to 90% in the paediatric population. Screening for congenital heart defects in new-Born's poses numerous challenges, especially when auscultating a young child with a relative high heart rate.

FACT: 61% of children that are referred have innocent murmurs

It is found that up to 61% of murmurs referred for specialist-evaluation are found to be physiological (innocent), which is not only a costly process but causes unnecessary worry for the patients family.

CAA provides support to primary health care physicians in the evaluation of heart sounds, especially for the identification of suspected heart murmurs and potential signs for heart disease, and could help physicians to make more appropriate referrals to (paediatric) cardiologists.  Sensi can increase a physician’s sensitivity and specificity, allowing more accurate evaluation.

Our software assists medical examiners during heart auscultations to distinguish between normal/physiological and pathological heart murmurs by recording the acoustic signals of the heart and/or the ECG signals and analysing these signals.
